Three captured soldiers were shot dead by the Taliban in Badakhshan

Local sources in Badakhshan report that three security forces held captive by the Taliban have been killed.

Nik Mohammad Nazari; Spokesman for the Badakhshan governor said three soldiers held captive by the Taliban had been shot dead by the group today (the first of the holy month of Ramadan).

Mr. Nazari added that the soldiers, who had come from Paktia and Kandahar to Badakhshan to spend their holidays, had been captured by the Taliban a few days ago on their way to Warduj district.

According to Mr. Nazari, two of the soldiers were from Ishkashim district of Badakhshan, and the other were from Zibak district of the province.

The Taliban have not yet commented.
