48 Taliban fighters were killed in Laghman and Maidan Wardak

The Ministry of Defense reports that 48 Taliban fighters were killed in separate operations by security forces and commandos in Laghman and Maidan Wardak provinces.

The ministry said in a statement that 28 Taliban fighters were killed and some of their weapons and ammunition were destroyed in an operation carried out by commandos in the Jalriz district of Maidan Wardak province yesterday.

According to the statement, 20 Taliban fighters also killed and a large amount of their weapons and ammunition were destroyed in air attacks in Raheen and Gamba areas of Alishang district of Laghman province yesterday.

The Taliban have not yet commented.
