Interior Ministry announces increase in casualties in blast in Kabul’s Dasht Barchi to 50 dead and 100 injured
Tariq Arian; The ministry spokesman said the death toll from the blast in Kabul’s Dasht Barchi had risen to 50 dead and 100 wounded, and that the number was changing.
Yesterday evening (Saturday, May 8), an explosion took place in front of a girls’ school in Dasht-e Barchi, Kabul.
Mr Arian said the attack was carried out by a bombed car and two mines.
Interior Ministry and the presidential palace blamed the Taliban for the blast, but the group has not yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
Condemning the attack, President Ghani said that the Taliban, by escalating the illegitimate war and violence, have once again shown that they are not only unwilling to resolve the current crisis peacefully and fundamentally; Rather, by complicating the situation, they are sabotaging the opportunity provided for peace.
