Rumi Gholam Mohammad Kababiani was assassinated in Herat

Herat security sources report the assassination of the deputy head of the Ulema Council of the province.

Abdul Ahad Walizadeh; Herat police spokesman says that Mawlawi Ghulam Mohammad Kababiani; The deputy head of the Herat Ulema Council was shot by unknown individuals in Kababian village of Injil district this morning as he was walking home from a mosque.

Mr. Valizadeh added that Mr. Kababiani was seriously injured in the incident and died after arriving at the Herat District Hospital.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Targeted assassinations have recently increased in the country, and people are accusing the government of failing to provide security and prevent such assassinations.
