The Ministry of Defense announced the beginning of the operation to retake the ChahAb district of Takhar

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has announced that most areas in Chaha Ab district of Takhar have been cleared of Taliban fighters.

The ministry said in a statement that a few days after security forces tactically withdrew to prevent civilian casualties, government forces, with the support of the air force, re-launched operations to clear the Chahaab district of Takhar of Taliban insurgents.

The statement added that the police command, the city and large areas of the district had been cleared of the Taliban during the operation.

According to the statement, 18 Taliban fighters were killed and 21 others were wounded in the operation, and clearing operations are still underway in and around the district.
