Taliban fighters occupy Gosfandi district of Sar-e-Pul

Local sources in Sar-e-Pul say that after the fall of Sancharak district to the Taliban, the group has also taken over Gosfandi district of the province.

Seyed Assadullah Danesh; The deputy head of Sar-i-Pul provincial council said that Taliban fighters took control of Gosfandi district of the province yesterday.

Mr Danesh added that security forces had withdrawn from the district and that the district center had fallen to Taliban fighters.

Meanwhile, the Sancharak district of the province fell to the Taliban yesterday.

The deputy head of Sar-i-Pul provincial council, however, said that the Taliban had succeeded in capturing these districts through propaganda work and that these districts had fallen without any clashes.
