10 villages in Charkent district of Balkh province were cleared

The Ministry of Defense has announced that 10 villages in the Chaharkant district of Balkh province have been cleared of Taliban fighters.

The ministry said in a statement that security forces and popular uprising carried out a clearing operation in the Chaharkant district of Balkh province yesterday with the support of the air force.

The statement added that as a result of these operations, the villages of Oibulaq, Pare Barat, Nawabad, Lashkar-e-Qaq, Pakbar, Khaneghah, Havili, Giro Bala, Giro Pa’in and Khwaja Suri in Chaharkant district have been cleared of Taliban fighters.

According to the statement, 55 Taliban fighters were killed and eight others were wounded in the operations, as well as a hideout and a number of weapons and ammunition of the group also has been destroyed.
