Unknown people killed a religious scholar in Jawzjan

Security officials in Jawzjan say a cleric has been assassinated in the provincial capital.

Jawzjan police spokesman Ahmad Massoud Nadim said unidentified gunmen assassinated a cleric in the city of Sheberghan on Saturday evening.

Mr. Nadim mentioned this religious scholar Rafiullah and said that he was the Imam of the Maulana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi Grand Mosque.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.
