Taliban attack on Parwan provincial capital repulsed

Security sources in Parwan province say that the attack of Taliban fighters on the positions of the security forces in the center of Parwan province has been repulsed.

Parwan police chief says the Taliban attacked on security checkpoints in Charikar last night.

The Parwan police chief added that six members of the security forces and the popular uprising had been killed in the clashes, and that 20 Taliban fighters, including five key commanders of the group, had been killed.

Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid issued a statement claiming the seizure of a number of security checkpoints and the killing of 19 government forces by the group’s fighters in Charikar.
