Clashes in Sheberghan; The provincial building fell to the Taliban

Sources in Jawzjan province say clashes between security forces and Taliban fighters are taking place around the National Security Directorate, around Marshal Dostum’s house and in the streets of Sheberghan.

The sources said the Taliban had suffered heavy casualties, but said that the provincial, municipal and prison buildings in Sheberghan had fallen into the hands of the group’s fighters and that they had released prisoners.

The sources added that the clashes around Marshal Dostum’s house belonging to the first security district  and at five hundred families have intensified.

According to these sources, the number of Taliban is very high and if more reinforcements do not arrive in this province, there is a possibility that the city of Sheberghan will fall.

Meanwhile, Seyyed Shamsuddin Sadat, chairman of the provincial council of the National Movement Party in Balkh, announced the dispatch of 150 people affiliated with the National Movement Party from Mazar to Sheberghan.
