Taliban rocket attacks on Pul-e-Khumri city

Security sources in Baghlan province report a rocket attack by Taliban fighters on the provincial capital.

Baghlan police spokesman Ahmad Javed Basharat said Taliban fighters fired rockets on the city of Pul-e-Khumri last night, killing one civilian and wounding five others.

Meanwhile, a number of Pul-e-Khumri residents say mortar shells fired by the Taliban have all hit homes.

A Baghlan police spokesman also said that last night Taliban fighters attacked areas of the second security district, Baghlan University and the blocks, which were met with resistance from security forces and the attacks were repulsed.
