Taliban attacks on Herat were repulsed

Officials in Herat say security forces repelled a Taliban attack on the provincial capital.
Herat Governor Abdul Sabur Qaneh says widespread attacks by Taliban fighters were repulsed by security forces and popular uprisings last night.
According to Mr. Qaneh, some 30 Taliban fighters have been killed and dozens more wounded in Taliban attacks and clashes.
Mr. Qaneh also confirmed that one government force was killed and four others were injured in the clashes.
Taliban fighters have attacked the province several times before to seize the city of Herat.
