Britain and the United States are sending troops to Afghanistan to continue their diplomatic presence and withdraw their citizens.
A Pentagon staffer reports that the United States is sending about 3,000 troops to Afghanistan to oust its citizens and resume diplomatic activity.
Meanwhile, British Defense Secretary Benwalls said in a statement on Thursday that he would send about 600 troops to Afghanistan to support the continued diplomatic presence in Kabul, the relocation of Afghan troops working with British troops and the withdrawal of British citizens from Afghanistan.
In recent weeks, the Taliban have seized control of 13 provinces.
In the past 24 hours, the group has captured the provincial capitals of Herat, Ghazni and Badghis.
