Trump: We destroyed the Middle East

Former US President Donald Trump has said that the US decision to invade Afghanistan has devastated the Middle East.

“We have devastated the Middle East, we have spent thousands of billions of dollars, millions have died and now it is no different. The situation is much worse because you have to rebuild it, because it is fragmented,” he said.

“I decreased the number of troops from about 20,000 to 2,500 – and they withdrew before the civilians and the translators and the rest of the people who had helped us were evacuated,” he said, referring to the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. “I wanted to get the military out in the last place and get the people out first.”

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden said he had made the right decision by leaving Afghanistan.
