Biden: ISIL seeks to target Kabul airport

US President Joe Biden told a news conference at the White House that the ISIS terrorist group was trying to target foreign forces and civilians at Kabul airport.
“The longer the Americans stay in Afghanistan, the greater the risk of an attack by the ISIS terrorist group in Khorasan. The sooner we can get the job done, the better. Every day of the operation brings more dangers to our forces,” he said. “The day we are there is another day and we know that ISIL is seeking to attack the airport and American forces and its allies.”
He added that 70,000 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan so far.
Regarding the Taliban government, Biden said, “We will determine the legitimacy of any future government in Afghanistan based on its behavior, and we will evaluate the Taliban through its actions.”
The deadline for foreigners to leave Afghanistan is coming to an end, but many American citizens in Afghanistan are still unable to leave the country.
