US issues authorization to continue humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

An informed source said that the United States has authorized humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

The US Treasury Department has issued the permit, which allows the US government and its contractors to provide humanitarian aid to the Afghan people, including food and medicine, despite sanctions by the Taliban, the official said, according to The Independent.

The source added that the aid did not reach the Taliban officials in any way and that the purpose of the permit was to provide aid to the Afghan people.

The source also said that the license expires on March 1, 2022.

The United Nations has previously said that half of Afghanistan’s population needs humanitarian assistance as a result of the fall of the previous government and the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.
