UN: Taliban have arrested or killed some former Afghan government officials

The head of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has said that the Taliban are killing former government officials and that some former government officials and their relatives have been arbitrarily detained by the group.
“My office has received credible evidence and allegations of the killing of a number of former Afghan security personnel, and there have been reports,” said Michel Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, citing some documents and sources in a speech to the Human Rights Council. “It shows that former government employees and their families have been arbitrarily arrested and detained.”
“In house-to-house operations, the Taliban have released individuals linked to the former government and security forces, and in some cases, their bodies have been found,” he added.
According to him, there is a difference between the words and actions of Taliban officials.
He also said that with the Taliban taking control of Afghanistan, women were deprived of their right to run for government.
