Italian Foreign Minister: We do not recognize the Taliban government

The Italian Foreign Ministry has said it does not recognize the Taliban government.

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi DiMaggio said in a televised interview yesterday that it was impossible for his country to recognize the Taliban.

On the other hand, he stressed that the people of Afghanistan need humanitarian aid and should benefit from it.

He added that the Afghan people can be financially supported without giving money to the Taliban
