The Taliban have accused the United States of violating Afghan airspace

In a statement, the Taliban accused the United States of violating Afghan airspace by drones.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted that the US drone flight over the country’s airspace violated the sovereignty of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

“According to international law, countries are the sole owners of the territorial sovereignty and airspace of their governments,” Mujahid said. Therefore, the Islamic Emirate, as the only legal entity in Afghanistan, is the guardian of Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and airspace. Recently, the United States has been operating in Doha, the capital of Qatar, in violation of all international law and US commitments to the UAE, and Afghanistan’s sacred airspace has been repeatedly violated by US drones. “These violations must be corrected and prevented.”

But few days ago the Pentagon spokesman further added that the United States has full authority over airstrikes in Afghanistan and does not need to coordinate with the Taliban.
