The Pakistani Taliban declared a ceasefire in South Waziristan

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) declared a ceasefire in the South Waziristan region until October 20.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said in a statement: “Our leaders called on all our forces to observe the ceasefire from October 1 to the 20th of this month.”

Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan told a Pakistani media outlet that talks between the Pakistani-led Pakistani-mediated Taliban had begun in Afghanistan and were ongoing.

He added that if Pakistani Taliban leaders lay down their arms and surrender to the government, the government will forgive them and they will be able to live like ordinary citizens.

But the Taliban government in Afghanistan has so far said nothing about mediating the talks.
