A local journalist was shot dead by unknown individuals in Nangarhar

The Committee to Protect Journalists reports that a local journalist was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Nangarhar province.

A statement from the Committee to Protect Journalists named this journalist as Sayed Maroof Sadat, saying that he had been killed in the fifth district of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, yesterday evening.

In addition to Mr. Sadat, two Taliban forces were also killed and two others were wounded in the shooting, the statement added.

According to the statement, Mr. Sadat and his son were going to a party when they were shot.

The Committee to Protect Journalists has condemned the killing of the journalist and called on the Taliban to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.

However, no one or group has claimed responsibility for the shooting.
