Imran Khan: The world must interact with Afghanistan

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the world must interact with Afghanistan or extremists will emerge among the Taliban.
“The world has to deal with Afghanistan, because if it leaves the country, there are extremists among the Taliban, and they may return to the Taliban in 2000, and that would be a disaster,” he told Middle East.
“While half of Afghanistan’s population is below the poverty line and 75 percent of the country’s national budget depends on foreign aid, sanctions against the Taliban will soon lead to a humanitarian catastrophe,” Khan added.
Khan expressed concern that if the international community left Afghanistan alone, the country could easily go back to 1989, when the Soviet Union and the United States left Afghanistan and more than 200,000 Afghans were killed in chaos. »
“They (the Taliban) have made the right statements and have no choice,” he said, stressing that efforts must made to establish an inclusive government in Afghanistan. Now, if we boycott them, what else can we do? “The best way is to encourage them to live up to their commitments.”
