US and Qatari foreign ministers talk on Afghanistan

The US and Qatari foreign ministers spoke by telephone about the expansion of relations between the two countries and the situation in Afghanistan.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in a telephone conversation with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdul Haman Al Thani thanked Qatar for providing a safe passage for Americans, foreigners and Afghan-foreigners and discussed Afghanistan’s political and security issues.

According to the statement, in this telephone conversation, both sides also discussed the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

Qatar is one of the countries with close ties to the Taliban and has hosted the group’s political bureau for years.
