Biden appoints Donald Bloom as his ambassador to Pakistan

According to Reuters, US President Joe Biden intends to nominate the current ambassador to Tunisia, Donald Bloom, as his top diplomat in Pakistan, as Washington seeks to manage the situation in Afghanistan after leaving the country.
The White House announced that Biden will announce his plans for Bloom’s candidacy to work in Pakistan on Tuesday.
Bloom, a professional foreign service diplomat with a long history in the region, once worked at the Kabul embassy, which was closed earlier this year when the US military withdrew from Afghanistan.
Pakistan plays an important role in diplomacy with Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s relations with China have also been considered by the Biden government, which considers Beijing as its main international rival.
However, international agencies have warned that Afghanistan will be on the verge of collapse without access to humanitarian aid or foreign reserves, which is still frozen by the United States.
So Biden is trying to manage the situation in Afghanistan by appointing a new diplomat in Pakistan.
