Balkhi: Torkham border is open to visa holders and trucks

A Taliban foreign ministry spokesman said that at present only trucks and visa holders could cross the Torkham border.

“People who do not have passports and visas, whether adults or children, are not allowed to cross Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will be returned to their homes,” Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi tweeted yesterday.

According to him, Taliban officials are trying to create more facilities in this regard.

The opening of the Torkham border between the two countries was discussed during Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s visit to Kabul on Thursday and his meeting with Taliban officials.

The two sides also discussed the reduction of high customs tariffs on Afghan exports, humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and the expansion of relations between the two countries.
