Boris Johnson: We are ready to help the Afghan people but we will not give a white check to the Taliban

The British Prime Minister says that the country will cooperate with the United Nations and other countries in relation to the people of Afghanistan, but it can not write a white check to the Taliban.

“We need to double our aid this year, but we can’t gave a check to Taliban,” British Prime Minister Boris Janssen was quoted as saying by Reuters in response to questions from reporters in parliament.

“We must ensure that the country does not become a haven for terrorism.”

“We must do everything we can to reduce the consequences of Taliban domination of the Afghan people,” he added.

While the Taliban government, which the group calls interim, has not yet been recognized by any country, most countries around the world have expressed readiness to send humanitarian aid to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
