US National Security Adviser: We are not yet in a position to help Afghanistan through the Taliban

The president’s national security adviser says the United States is not in a position to provide money to the people through Afghanistan’s current leadership.

“We are not yet in a position to raise money directly through Afghanistan’s current leadership,” Jake Sullivan, the US president’s national security adviser, told CNN. “Until we see a dramatic improvement in approaches to everything from the inclusive government to other elements with whom we talk regularly.”

Despite all this, the United States is still the largest humanitarian donor to Afghanistan in working with nonprofits and civil society structures, Sullivan said.
