Norway pledges $ 23 million in aid to Afghanistan

The Norwegian Foreign Minister has called on other countries to provide cash to Afghans so that they can survive the winter.
According to Reuters, Norwegian Foreign Minister Aniken Hofffeld said his country was providing $ 23 million to the United Nations to help Afghans.
“We urge other countries to do the same, in order to prevent an immediate humanitarian crisis and famine,” the Norwegian foreign minister said in an interview ahead of Wednesday’s UN Security Council meeting. “They may take action.”
He added that Norway also sends cash to help women’s organizations in Afghanistan, and that its humanitarian aid to Afghanistan will amount to SEK 325 million this year.
As Afghanistan’s economy collapses, the United Nations set up the fund last month to provide direct assistance to Afghan families.
