Taliban: Education is an inalienable right of women

The Minister of Promoting Virtue and Prohibiting Virtue of the Taliban Government says that girls can study up to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees by observing the Islamic hijab.
According to the Bakhtar state news agency, Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, head of the Taliban government’s Ministry of Promoting Virtue and Prohibiting Virtue, said in a statement that girls could study for a bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree by observing the Islamic hijab.
The news agency also quoted Noorullah Munir, the acting head of the Taliban government’s education ministry, as saying, “The Islamic Emirate has no objection to the education of women in principle, because education is their inalienable legal right.”
However, girls’ schools and universities have not yet been opened to the students.
