CIGAR: Shortage of female teachers limits educational opportunities for girls in Afghanistan

The US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) wrote on its official Twitter page that logistical problems, including a shortage of female teachers, could impede girls’ educational opportunities if the Taliban allowed girls to study on the basis of gender. Restrict.

After the Taliban took control, schools and universities were closed in all parts of the country, and after a while the Taliban allowed boys’ schools to reopen to students, but girls above grade 7 could not return to school and were not allowed to study.

Officials with the group say girls’ schools and universities will reopen next year according to Islamic standards.
