The presidents of Pakistan and Tajikistan discussed the situation in Afghanistan

The Pakistani president, in a meeting with his Tajik counterpart, stressed the need for the United States to release Afghanistan’s frozen assets.

Pakistani President Aref Alavi met with his Tajik Counterpart Imam Ali Rehman on the sidelines of the ECO summit in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, the Associated Press reported.

A statement from the Office of the President of Pakistan said that the two sides discussed the challenges posed by the dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan for the two countries.

During the meeting, the President of Pakistan stressed that Afghanistan’s neighbors will suffer the most from instability in the country, and said that Pakistan is working for peace and stability in Afghanistan and is sending humanitarian aid to prevent a humanitarian crisis in the country.

Alavi added that the release of Afghanistan assets blocked in US is also very important in preventing economic collapse in the country.

According to the President of Pakistan, the country and Tajikistan can pursue common goals of peace and stability in Afghanistan, and peace in this country will help strengthen trade, economic capacity, and regional connectivity.
