Riyadh called on Islamic countries to hold a summit on Afghanistan

Saudi Arabia has called on Islamic countries to convene a meeting to review the recent humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.

The Saudi government has called for an emergency ministerial meeting to review the recent humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, the official Saudi news agency reported.

Referring to a similar invitation from Pakistan to assess the issue on December 17, the news agency said the day was suitable for the meeting and expressed concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation with the onset of winter.

“Millions of Afghans, young, old, women, men and children, need food, shelter and medicine in these difficult times,” the report said.

The report also emphasizes that if the economic crisis in Afghanistan continues, disrupting the stability of this country could have a negative impact on peace and stability in the region and the world.
