The European Union praised Turkey for hosting the largest number of asylum seekers

The EU Commissioner for Crisis Management thanked Turkey for hosting the largest number of asylum seekers and announced the EU’s readiness to provide more support to Ankara in this regard.
The statement came from EU Commissioner for Crisis Management John Lenargej, who was in Ankara to attend the EU’s “Social Assistance Program” meeting, in an exclusive interview with Anatolia News Agency.
“The EU appreciates Turkey ‘s hospitality and generosity and expresses its readiness to provide further support,” he said.
“The EU is aware of the burden that Turkey has on illegal asylum seekers,” he said. “Under this framework, € 6 billion in support has been pledged and € 3 billion will be paid by 2024.”
It should be noted that Turkey also hosts the largest number of refugees from Afghanistan.
