Biden: No one came to tell me how to get out of Afghanistan without hurting anyone

The US president has said that he was opposed to the war in Afghanistan from the beginning and no one told him how to leave the country without harming anyone.

“In relation to Afghanistan, I have been opposed to the war in Afghanistan from the very beginning,” US President Joe Biden told CBS News. “We spent $ 300 million a week in Afghanistan for 20 years.”

“Everyone comes back and says, ‘You could have left Afghanistan unharmed,'” he said, referring to people blaming him for leaving Afghanistan. “But no one came to show me a way for this exit to take place without harming anyone.”

Following the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, several retired US military commanders called for the resignation of senior Biden administration military and diplomatic officials, including Mark Millie, Joint Chiefs of Staff Lloyd Austin, Secretary of Defense and Anthony Biden’s secretary of state, Blenken, and Jake Sullivan, the administration’s national security adviser.
