Breshna: Uzbekistan’s electricity imports to Afghanistan decreased by 50%

Afghanistan Electricity Company announced that due to technical problems in Uzbekistan, the country’s electricity imports to Afghanistan have decreased by 50%.
The company said in a statement released today that as a result of a 50 percent reduction in electricity imports from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan, 15 provinces along the import route, including Kabul, will face electricity shortages by the end of today (Wednesday).
According to the Afghan Electricity Company, only 30 percent of the country’s electricity comes from domestic sources, and the other 70 percent comes from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Turkmenistan.
