Reina Amiri has been appointed by the United States as Special Representative for Women in Afghanistan

The State Department has appointed Reina Amiri as its Special Envoy for Afghanistan’s Women, Girls and Human Rights.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken wrote on his Twitter page today that Reina Amiri has more than two decades of expertise and knowledge that will advance our vital work towards a peaceful, stable and secure Afghanistan for all.
During President Barack Obama’s presidency, Ms. Reina Amiri was the Senior Advisor to the US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as a member of the UN Secretary-General’s political team in Afghanistan.
