Pilots of the former government: Ghani’s escape caused the fall of the regime

A number of pilots and soldiers of the former government army have said that Ghani’s escape was the main reason for the fall of the regime.

Reuters quoted a number of pilots and soldiers of the former Afghan government army as saying that the reason for the collapse of the air force was the lack of ammunition and the escape of Ashraf Ghani from the country.

The pilots said that the Afghan Air Force was under pressure due to lack of equipment and the scale of the war, but eventually lost its capability.

Most of the pilots were forced to flee by helicopter from Afghanistan to neighboring countries, including Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, Reuters reported.

Former President Ashraf Ghani fled Afghanistan in August after the Taliban entered Kabul.

There are also reports that he took with him several boxes of money while fleeing.
