US State Department Resources: Dozens of American citizens remain in Afghanistan

Dozens of American citizens and their families are still in Afghanistan, State Department sources said.

CNN quoted some State Department sources as saying that the United States was working to help dozens of American citizens still living in Afghanistan with their families.

CNN puts the number of American citizens at about 80 and reports that they will not be able to leave Afghanistan due to a lack of evacuation flights.

According to the report, a number of Afghans who have cooperated with foreign forces and have full documents to leave Afghanistan are still in Afghanistan and have not been able to leave the country.

Meanwhile, evacuation flights from Afghanistan were suspended some time ago due to Taliban opposition.
