The Herat-Badghis highway was closed to traffic due to snow

Local officials in Badghis province say the Herat-Badghis highway has been closed to traffic due to heavy snowfall.

Maulvi Abdul Rahman, the province’s director of public works, told the Bakhtar government agency that the highways had been closed to traffic since noon yesterday and dozens of Saracheh vehicles with their occupants were stuck in the Sabzak valley.

He stressed that the Air Force had been asked to help rescue the passenger, adding that all the equipment of the Public Works Department had been sent to the area.

Meanwhile, officials from the Salangah Maintenance Department say the Salang Highway is closed to traffic.

According to them, this highway has been closed to passengers due to heavy snowfall.
