Hekmatyar emphasized the continuation of the current government in Afghanistan

The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan says the Loya Jirga is now outdated and a 19th-century version.

Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan, said in an interview that the Loya Jirga was the 19th century version and emphasized to continue the current government in Afghanistan.

He said that all parties in Afghanistan should agree on a mechanism that guarantees elections and the rights of all people and defines the peaceful transfer of power, not the Loya Jirga as in the past.

Earlier, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar had stressed that in Afghanistan, only a government that would satisfy the people and guarantee justice and the rights of its citizens would survive.
