Vali Naimi was appointed head of Afghanistan’s mission to the United Nations

Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has announced that Vali Naimi has taken over as the Head of Afghanistan’s Mission to the United Nations.

Following the resignation of Ghulam Mohammad Ishaqozi, Afghanistan’s former ambassador and representative to the United Nations, Nasir Ahmad Fayeq was appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to head Afghanistan’s mission to the United Nations due to Naeemi’s illness.

The statement added, however, that Mr. Naimi had officially taken over the responsibility of Afghanistan’s mission to the United Nations, following formalities and administrative sequences, following his recovery on 4 February.

Earlier, Nasir Ahmad Fayek said that after commenting on the former government officials at the UN Security Council meeting, these officials are seeking his removal from the post of Afghanistan’s representative to the UN.
