Blinken: Russia may accuse the Ukrainian government of violence

The US Secretary of State says that Russia seeks to justify a fake attack on Ukraine to justify its attack.

Speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Russia could claim a fake terrorist, chemical or drone strike to justify its attack on Ukraine.

“Russia is looking for an excuse to attack Ukraine,” he said. Russia is likely to accuse the Ukrainian government of using violence. This action may be a fake terrorist attack against Russia. It could be a fake drone strike against civilians or a fake or real chemical attack. “Russia can describe this as ethnic cleansing or genocide.”

“We have received information that Russia will target certain Ukrainian groups,” Blinken said, adding that Russia may use cyber or missile strikes to attack Ukraine.

The US Secretary of State called on Russia to resolve the Ukraine issue through diplomacy.
