Turkish Social Services Minister: Economic instability has pushed Afghan women and girls into poverty, hunger and forced marriage

The Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services has said that economic instability and security problems in Afghanistan have led Afghan women and girls to poverty, hunger and forced marriage at a very young age.
The statement was made by Darya Yanik the Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services at a meeting on the protection of the rights of Afghan women and girls, which was held as part of the 66th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women on Tuesday.
“The United Nations has taken responsibility for improving the lives of the Afghan people and for bringing peace and stability to the country, but the living conditions of the Afghan people appear to have deteriorated,” he said.
Regarding Turkey’s activities in the field of women’s empowerment, the Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services said: Supports comprehensive development.
“They must respect the fundamental rights of all and we want to ensure that women and girls have access to education and employment,” he said, calling on the current Afghan government to be inclusive. None of this is negotiable.
According to him, economic instability and security problems in Afghanistan have led Afghan women and girls to poverty, hunger and forced marriage at a very young age.
