Taliban Ministry of Education: Girls’ schools are closed until further notice

The Taliban Ministry of Education has said that girls’ schools will be closed until further notice.

According to the Bakhtar state news agency, the Taliban Ministry of Education has announced that girls’ schools (secondary and high schools) will be closed until further notice.

The ministry said in a statement that whenever school uniforms are designed in accordance with Afghan law, customs and culture, the schools will be opened in accordance with the Taliban leadership.

Earlier, the Taliban announced that they would open schools for girls and boys on the third day of new year.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) also called on families in Afghanistan to prepare their eligible children for school for the new school year.
