Protesters in Kabul: We want education, history does not forgive the Taliban

Dozens of students, teachers and activists protested in Kabul today in response to the closure of secondary schools and girls’ high schools by the Taliban.

The protesters, carrying placards with the message “You took my clean soil, do not take my education” and textbooks, demanded the reopening of schools for all girls across the country.

“We want education, history does not forgive the Taliban,” they say.

The Taliban had promised to reopen all girls’ and boys’ schools across the country three days ago, but the group’s Ministry of Education announced that secondary schools and girls’ high schools would be closed until further notice.
