A doctor was abducted by gunmen in Nangarhar

Sources in Nangarhar say gunmen have abducted a dermatologist in the Sorkhrud district of the province.

Sources say that Dr. Zalmai Ahmadzai, a dermatologist, was abducted by gunmen on Saturday on the Jalalabad-Kabul highway.

Meanwhile, relatives of Dr. Ahmadzai say those who abducted him have identified themselves as members of the Taliban.

Shir Agha Osuli, a member of Dr. Ahmadzai’s family, told that they had discussed the matter with local Taliban officials in Nangarhar, but had not received a satisfactory response.

According to him, a few days later, there is still no news about Ahmadzai’s fate, and local Taliban officials have also expressed ignorance about the doctor’s fate.

Earlier, a neurologist was abducted in Balkh province and killed about a month later.
