A two-day exhibition of women’s handicrafts was launched in Balkh

The two-day exhibition of women’s handicrafts was launched in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Akhim Steiner, Director of the United Nations Development Program, local officials, the Director of Industry and Trade of Balkh and a number of citizens of Mazar-e-Sharif.

In this two-day exhibition, women handicrafts of Balkh, Jawzjan, Samangan, Faryab and Sar-e-Pul provinces were exhibited.

The director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) said at the opening of the exhibition that they had signed a $ 1.5 million contract with the Islamic Relief Institute to support women business in northern Afghanistan.

An exhibition of women’s handicrafts in Mazar-e-Sharif is being held after women were not allowed to work in government offices after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.

Recently, high schools and girls’ high schools were also closed by the group’s leadership.
