Taliban Passport Authority: Profiteers distribute fake passport booklets to people in exchange for money
The General Directorate of Passports of the Taliban Provisional Government has announced that some profiteers have recently printed fake passport booklets abroad and distributed them to the public in exchange for money, using fake stamps and signatures.
A statement issued by the department said that based on information as well as confessions obtained by passport and intelligence officials from several detainees, the individuals had smuggled white passport booklets after being printed in neighboring countries. They enter Afghanistan and distribute them to the people.
The Taliban’s passport director stressed that holders of such passports would be dealt with severely, adding that the booklets were not only unregistered with the passport office, but that their forgeries could be easily identified.
The department asked the citizens not to be deceived by the counterfeiters and commissioners and not to pay anyone in exchange for obtaining a passport.
