Taliban: Negotiations continue with Turkey and Qatar to manage Afghanistan’s airfields

A spokesman for the Taliban’s political office in Doha said talks with Turkey and Qatar on managing Afghanistan’s airspace were ongoing.

Mohammad Naeem Wardak, spokesman for the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, told Anatolia News Agency that the agreement with the UAE was for ground transportation services at Kabul, Kandahar and Herat airports. Negotiations between the Taliban, Turkey and Qatar over the operation of Afghanistan’s airports have not stopped.

He added that the agreement was reached with the company that managed the airport before the Taliban took power and does not include the airport operations process.

Two days ago, Enamullah Samangani, the Taliban’s deputy spokesman, tweeted that the management of the country’s three airports had been handed over to the UAE GAAC company during a ceremony.

Ghulam Jilani Wafa, Deputy Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, signed the contract for the regulation and management of Kabul, Herat and Kandahar airports in a ceremony with Razzaq Aslam, CEO of GAAC, UAE.
