The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan has bid farewell to members of the diplomatic corps and regional organizations in Kabul.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghaniastan (UNAMA) wrote on its Facebook page that Deborah Lyons, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan and UNAMA President, held a farewell meeting with members of the diplomatic corps and regional organizations before leaving the country.
UNAMA said in its newsletter that the meeting was an opportunity to share experiences and lessons learned over the past two years, and he noted the importance of the important work that lies ahead.
UNAMA President and senior officials, including Ramz Al-Akbarov, UN Under-Secretary-General for Afghanistan and Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs, stressed the importance of engagement and cooperation between countries and regional organizations in improving Afghanistan’s political, humanitarian and economic situation and the lives of Afghan men and women.
However, UNAMA has made no mention of the end of Deborah Lyons as Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan.
